Bridges
What is a Dental Bridge?
A dental bridge is a prosthetic device used to replace one or more missing teeth, “bridging” the gap between your natural teeth. Artificial teeth, generally known as pontics, take up the place of the missing tooth and are then attached by crowns placed on the two neighboring, visible natural teeth, referred to as abutment teeth. The pontics are made specifically to be closely influenced by the shade and color of your existing natural teeth, so you get a very natural-looking restoration that works quite fine.

Types of Dental Bridges
Traditional Bridges:
They are the most common types, involving crowns on both sides of the missing tooth (abutments) holding a false tooth (pontic) in between. As a result, due to their strength and durability, traditional bridges are most likely applied for molars.
Cantilever Bridge:
This cantilever bridge is less common, but in a specific situation, it is very effective, on the condition that there is only one tooth adjacent to the missing tooth. They can be used in cases such as those regions of the mouth not requiring heavy biting forces, for instance, the front teeth.
Maryland Bonded Bridges:
A conservative approach in which a metal or porcelain framework is bonded to the back of adjacent teeth and no crowns are required. Maryland bridges are less invasive but are usually used only for small gaps and don’t withstand stress as well as some other options.
Implant-supported bridges:
When the patient has consecutively missing teeth, implant-supported bridges can be used. It places the dental implant into the jawbone and then attaches a bridge to these. It provides greater stability and is appropriate when the patient requires a long-term fixed solution.
Benefits of Dental Bridges
Restores Function:
Dental bridges replace lost teeth so that the individual can chew again and even speak with a more natural pronunciation and accent.
Maintains Facial Shape:
Teeth loss causes your face to hang after a long time. The bridges allow you to retain the natural shape of your face and prevent the loss of bone from your jaw.
Prevent Tooth Shifting:
Missing teeth can cause adjacent teeth to shift, altering the patient’s bite and potentially leading to further dental issues. Bridges help keep the remaining teeth in their correct positions.
It enhances beauty.
A dental bridge can restore your smile and give you a natural, complete look that will boost your confidence.
